Adding Text to an Image

1. [ ] Open Paint Shop Pro 8

2. [ ] Click File>Open

3. [ ] In the dialogue window, browse to your web folder and open the images folder then click on the logo blank image. The file will look something like logo-blank.gif

4. [ ] The image will open in your workspace. The image will normally be in a .gif format so we will have to increase the colours of the image. Click Image>Increase Color Depth>16 Million Colors.

5. [ ] Now choose the Text Tool from the Tools toolbar to the left. (If it is not open already, click View>Toolbars>Tools to open it.

6. [ ] Place your curser on the logo image and click once. Click OK to the Auto Actions alert if asked.

7. [ ] Below is the Text Pallet that should appear at the top of your workspace, if not click View>Pallets>Tool Options to open it. Use the dropdowns to make your pallet appear the same as ours.

8. [ ] When you clicked on the logo image a Text Entry widow should have opened. If not try clicking on the image again.

9. [ ] In the Text Entry window type your Site Name as you wish it to appear on the logo, then highlight it.

10. [ ] Now let’s change the colour to suit your site. To the right of the workspace you should see Materials Pallet. We need to change bottom colour.

11. [ ] Place your curser on the lower colour and click once. A Colour Pallet window will open where you can change the colour of the text.

12. [ ] Click the OK button to apply the colour change.

13. [ ] Now lets change the Text size. With your text still highlighted, go to the size dropdown of the Tools Option Pallet and choose a larger or smaller pixel size.

14. [ ] At the same time you can choose a different font style.

15. [ ] When you have finished making your adjustments click the Apply button on the Text entry window.

16. [ ] Place your curser on the text that should be surrounded with little ants and move it into position on your image.

17. [ ] Click Selections>Select None when you have finished placing the text.

18. [ ] Now let’s save the image. Click File>Save As

19. [ ] The Save As dialogue window will open. Browse to the images folder if it is not already open.

20. [ ] Click on the logo.gif file. You will be asked if it is okay to overwrite it, say yes.

21. [ ] You will then get another alert about colour limitations say yes again to continue.

22. [ ] That is it…you have edited your logo. You can now close PSP8.
